Brief Background Of PMO PhD Scholarship?
Every year the Prime Minister Office, government of Bangladesh provides scholarship to deserving local citizens with the aim of creating opportunities to participate in development activities on the basis of research & national demand.
The authority offers the scholarship under ‘Prime Minister Research & Higher Education Assistance Fund’.
In line with that, this year also, PMO opens the PhD scholarship circular inviting applications from prospective Bangladeshi national involved in research activities.
What Are the Subject Fields for Research Under PMO PhD Scholarship?
Under the scholarship, interested & eligible Bangladeshi citizens can do PhD studies in the following subject areas :
- Economics/Social Science 2. Biology 3. Pharmacy, Medical Science & Community Medicine 4. Physical/Material Science 5. Engineering & Computer Science 6. Information & Communication Technology 7. Food, Agriculture & Ocean Science 8. Arts/Humanities 9. Commerce 10. Law 11. Climate & Environmental Science and 12. Space Science.
What Are the Requirements for PMO PhD Scholarship 2024?
Aspirants will need to meet the following conditions, among others, to be eligible for application for the scholarship offer :
- First class/division or CGPA minimum 3.50 out of scale 4.0 across whole academic life.
- Only those already enrolled in PhD courses or received ‘Letter of Acceptance’ for admission into PhD courses which has begun in the year 2024 are eligible for application.
- Age being maximum 45 years. In-job applicants, either with government or semi-government organization, must apply with keeping the authority concerned aware of the matter.

Application Process of PMO PhD Scholarship 2024 :
Interested researchers must apply in prescribed form which they can download from either of the following two websites :
www.pmo.gov.bd, www.shed.gov.bd
Besides, one can collect the application form from the following places :
- Registrar of every public university. 2. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council 3. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute 4. Bangladesh Rice Research Institute 5. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) 6. Atomic Energy Commission 7. BIDS 8. Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC).
Notably, aspirants can also collect the scholarship guidelines from the above two websites.
Documents to Attach with Application Form :
Applicants must attach the following documents with the filled-up application form :
- Two (2) copies of fresh passport size photographs.
- Attested photocopies of all academic certificates & mark-sheets.
Application Submission Destination :
Applicants must send their application form only by registry post to the following address :
Deputy Registrar (Administration-3), Room No. 206, Administrative Building, Dhaka University, Dhaka-1000.
Note that applicants must write this phrase ‘PhD Scholarship Application under Prime Minister Research & Higher Education Assistance Fund’ on the top of the envelope.
