BUP Admission Circular 2023-24 : Application Period Dec 17 to Jan 4

BUP (Bangladesh University of Professionals) admission circular for academic year 2023-24 is open with online application period from December 17 to January 4, 2024. Admission test is scheduled to take place on January 19 & 20.

The university offers four year-long Honors/Engineering (ICE) Programs and two year-long Master’s programs.

BUP Admission Requirements 2024 :

In general, those who passed HSC or equivalent examination in 2022 and 2023 are eligible to apply for Bachelor programs. One can apply for any number of faculties he or she is eligible for.

Aspirants need to meet the following conditions, among others, to be eligible for application :

Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) :

For Science group, applicants must have GPA 5.0 in both SSC & HSC or their equivalent exams. And for English Medium, aspirants must have passed minimum five (5) subjects in ‘O’ level and two (2) subjects in ‘A’ level with minimum 26.5 points in total.

Faculty of Business Studies :

1. Students who passed SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams from any discipline or group in the specified years are eligible to apply.

2. Those from science group must have SSC & HSC combined GPA 9.0 with 4.25 in both the exams.
3. Students from both Business Studies and Humanities group must have SSC & HSC total GPA at least 8.5 with GPA 4.00 in either of the exam.
4. For those from English Medium, they must have passed minimum five (5) subjects in ‘O’ level and two (2) subjects in ‘A’ level with minimum 26.5 points in total.

Faculty of Arts & Social Science  :

1. SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams from any discipline or group.
2. For science group students, SSC & HSC combined GPA 9.0 with 4.50 in both the exams.
3. From Business Studies, SSC & HSC total GPA at least 8.50 with GPA 4.00 in either of the exam.
4. SSC & HSC total GPA minimum 8.00 with GPA 4.00 in either of the exam, for Humanities Group.
5. With English Medium, aspirants must have passed minimum five (5) subjects in ‘O’ level and two (2) subjects in ‘A’ level with minimum 26.5 points in total.

Faculty of Security & Strategic Studies :

1. SSC & HSC combined GPA min 9.0, 8.25 and 8.25 with GPA 4.00 in both exam for Science, Business & Humanities Group respectively. For English Medium students, they must have five (5) subjects in ‘O’ level and two (2) subjects in ‘A’ level with minimum 26.5 points in total.

2. SSC and HSC from any background are eligible to apply.

Application Fee :

The fee for application is Tk.1050 (without service charge) which applicants can pay by any types of card/Mobile Financial Services/Internet Banking.

BUP Admission Test 2024 Dates :

As per the circular, the admission test will take place according to the following schedule :

For Faculty of Arts & Social Science , it is at 10 am to 11 am on January 19 while for Faculty of Security & Strategic Studies, it is 3 pm to 4 pm on January 19.

Faculty of Science & Technology , the test is at 10 am to 11 am on January 20 while for Faculty of Business Studies ,it is at 3 pm to 4 pm on January 20.

BUP Admission Test Admit Cards & Results :

The authority will publish eligible candidates’ list for admission test on January 7, 2024. Then eligible candidates can download their admit cards from January 14 onwards.

Following admission test, the authority will publish merit list of selected candidates for admission on January 23 on the university website.

BUP Admission Test Method :

The admission test will consist of 100 marks in total. Of the marks, 55% marks will come from admission test (MCQ), 25% from HSC results and 20% from SSC or equivalent exam results.

Notably, examinees must secure minimum 40% marks in English to pass the admission test. To note, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer. For details, please see the circular available at the end of this article
