QS World University Rankings 2021 : 5 American Universities In Top 10!

QS World University Rankings 2021 has been published on November 26, placing top 1000 universities from around the world.

For ninth time straight, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA has taken top spot in the rankings.  Notably, out of the top ten universities placed in the rankings, five are from the USA!

The top ten universities in the rankings in descending order are : 1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology 2. Stanford University (California, USA) 3. Harvard University (Massachusetts, USA) 4. California Institute of Technology (Caltech) 5. University of Oxford (UK) 6. ETH Zurich—-Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Switzerland) 7. University of Cambridge (UK) 8. Imperial College London (UK) 9. University of Chicago (USA) and 10. University College London (UK).

To make this year’s rankings, over 5,500 universities from across the globe were evaluated and considered.

University rankings are made based on six simple metrics which are Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per Faculty, International Faculty Ratio and International Student Ratio.

Top 1k universities in the rankings are from 80 different locations in the world. This year there are 47 new entrants in the top 1000.

Interestingly, universities in the Asia have made impressive gains in the rankings with 26 institutions from the region featured in the global top 100. This number is a record in the history of the QS university rankings.

The other universities having spots in the top 25 in the rankings are National University of Singapore (11th), Princeton University (12th, USA), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (13th), EPFL–Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (14th, Lausanne, Switzerland), Tsinghua University (15th, Beijing, China), University of Pennsylvania (16th, USA), Yale University (17th, USA), Cornell University (18th, NY, USA), Columbia University (19th, NY, USA), The University of Edinburg (20th, UK), University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (21st, USA), The University of Hong Kong (22nd), Peking University (23rd, Beijing, China), The University of Tokyo (24th, Japan) and Johns Hopkins University (25th, Maryland, USA).
