JU Admission Test Schedule 2021 :

Jahangirnagar University (JU) : The test schedule has been published with the test beginning on November 9.

According to the latest schedule, the test of ‘A’ Unit will be held on November 20 & 21 instead of

7 & 8; ‘D’ unit test on November 9 & 10; ‘H’ and ‘G’ Units on November 11; ‘B’ Unit on November 14; ‘F’ and ‘I’ Units on November 15; ‘E’ and ‘C1’ Units on November 16 and the test of ‘C’ Unit will be on November 18, 2021.

Application Period : Online application begins from 12 noon June 20. And the last date and time to apply was 11:59 p.m. August 14.

JU Admission General Requirements :

Aspiring students need to meet the following requirements to take part in admission test :

  1. Having Passed SSC or its equivalent exam in 2017 and following years such as 2018.
  2. HSC or equivalent exam passing year 2019 or 2020. That means second-timers will be allowed to apply.
  3. SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams’ GPA will be counted including that of 4th subject.
  4. For English Medium students, min 5 subject pass in GCE ‘O’ level exam in 2015 & subsequent years and minimum 2 subjects pass in GCE ‘A’ level exam in 2019 or 2020. Besides, at least ‘B’ grade in 4 subjects and min ‘C’ grade in 3 subjects out of 7 subjects involving ‘O’ and ‘A’ level exams together.
  5. Students with necessary minimum requirements will be able to apply for any units.

GPA Requirements For Units and Departments Under Them :

As per the JU admission Circular 2021, aspirants need to fulfill the following requirements to be eligible for application for different departments under Faculties and Institutes :

For A-Unit (Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Science) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For B-Unit (Faculty of Social Sciences) : Minimum GPA 3.5 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For C-Unit (Faculty of Arts & Humanities excluding Department of Drama & Dramatics and Dept. of Fine Art) : Minimum GPA 3.5 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For C1-Unit (Faculty of Arts & Humanities : Dept. of Fine Art and Department of Drama & Dramatics) : Minimum GPA 3.25 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations for the Department of Drama & Dramatics.

And Minimum GPA 3.50 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations for the Department of Fine Art.

For D-Unit (Faculty of Biological Sciences), E-Unit (Faculty of Business Studies) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For E-Unit (Faculty of Business Studies), F-Unit (Faculty of Law) : Minimum GPA 3.75 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations for Humanities/Business Studies/equivalent groups.

And for Science students, the GPA requirement is min 4.0 in both the exams.

For F-Unit (Faculty of Law) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For G-Unit (Institute of Business Administration, IBA-JU) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For H-Unit (Institute of Information Technology) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For I-Unit (Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature & Culture) : Minimum GPA 3.5 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For Mathematics Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.5 with A-(minus) Grade in Mathematics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Statistics Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.5 with A-(minus) Grade in Mathematics/Statistics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Chemistry Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.5 with A Grade in Chemistry and A-(minus) Grade in Mathematics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Physics Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.5 with A Grade in both Physics & Mathematics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Geological Sciences Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.5 with A-(minus) Grade in Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Computer Science & Engineering Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 9.0 with A+(plus) Grade in Mathematics & Physics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Environmental Science Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.5 with A-(minus) Grade in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics & Biology in HSC or equivalent exams.

Departments Under Faculty of Social Science :

For Economics Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.0 with A-(minus) Grade in English & A Grade in Mathematics in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Geography & Environment Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.0 with A-(minus) Grade in Bangla & English in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Government & Politics Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.0 with A-(minus) Grade in Bangla & English in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Anthropology Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.0 with A-(minus) Grade in Bangla & English in HSC or equivalent exams.

For Public Administration Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 8.0 with A-(minus) Grade in English in HSC or equivalent exams.

Plus, must have 200 marks course on English subject in HSC or equivalent examination.

For Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 9.0 with A Grade in Biology, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in HSC or equivalent exam.

For Public Health & Informatics Depart. : SSC & HSC combined GPA 9.0 with A Grade in Biology, Chemistry & Mathematics in HSC or equivalent exam.

Departments Under Faculty of Business Studies :


For Departments of Finance & Banking, Marketing, Accounting & Information Systems and Management Studies : For Business studies/Humanities/equivalent group students, SSC & HSC or their equivalent examination combined GPA must be minimum 7.5 with A-(minus) Grade in English & Mathematics/Statistics/Economics/Accounting/Business Organization & Management.

And For Science Group students, SSC & HSC or their equivalent examination combined GPA must be minimum 8.0 with A-(minus) Grade in English & Mathematics/Statistics/Economics/Accounting/Business Organization & Management.

To note, first year honors admission test will take place under ten (10) units. Those fulfilling basic requirements will be able to apply for any unit towards admission into the university.

10 Units : Students get enrolled into first year honors study at Jahangirnagar University through admission tests usually held under 10 units. The ten units are :

Application Fee : The following is the application fee structure :

  1. Tk. 600 (with service charge) for A, B, C, D & E Units each.
  2. Tk. (with service charge) 400 for C1, F, G, H & I-Units each.

To note, applicants can deposit application fee by either of the following means—Rocket Account (Dutch Bangla Mobile Banking), Nagad and Bkash.

JU Admission Test Method :

For all units, Admission test will have 80 marks MCQ Type questions. The duration of each test is 55 minutes. But there will be an additional 5 minutes for OMR Form fill-up. To note, there will be a negative marking of 0.20 marks for every wrong answer. And written test (MCQ) pass mark is minimum 33% which is applicable to all units.

JU Admission Test Results :

Concerned Unit Office will publish the unit’s result within 3 days of completion of the exam. And the results will be available at the link (juniv-admission.org) and on the notice board of the unit office.

Number of Faculties At JU :

JU has six faculties—-Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Business Studies and Faculty of Law.

Departments Under Faculty of Arts & Humanities : There are nine departments under this faculty. The nine departments are Department of International Relations, Department of English, Department of History, Department of Philosophy, Department of Drama & Dramatics, Department of Archaeology, Department of Bangla, Department of Journalism & Media Studies and Department of Fine Art.

Departments under Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Science : There are seven departments under this faculty which are : Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, Dept. of Mathematics, Dept. of Physics, Dept. of Environmental Sciences, Dept. of Statistics, Dept. of Geological Sciences and Dept. of Chemistry.

Departments under Faculty of Social Sciences : There are six departments under this faculty which are Dept. of Economics, Dept. of Anthropology, Dept. of Urban & Regional Planning, Dept. of Geography & Environment, Dept. of Government & Politics and Dept. of Public Administration.
