Eight (8) government Textile Engineering Colleges admission circular of four year BSc in Textile Engineering course for year 2023-24 is expected to be out in early May, 2024. And admission test will likely take place in mid-July.

Applicants turning out to be successful in written test will be able to enroll into first year (level-1) of the course for the academic year.
The Department of Textiles (DoT) under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Bangladesh runs the eight government textile engineering colleges which are affiliated with Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX).

Textile Engineering Colleges Admission Requirements :
Aspiring students need to meet the following conditions, among others, to be eligible for application :
- Having passed HSC or equivalent exam in 2022 or 2023 in science group with GPA at least 4.0 out of 5.0 from any Secondary & Higher secondary education board (General)/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board.
- Combination of SSC & HSC or their equivalent exams’ results, both in science group, must be at least 8.0 including fourth subject.
- Having minimum grade point 3.5 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics each and at least 3.0 in English in HSC or equivalent exam, resulting in total grade points of at least 15.50 involving all the four subjects.
For GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ level candidates, average grade must be ‘B’ involving at least 5 papers in ‘O’ level exam held in November 2022 or later and minimum ‘B’ grade in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in ‘A’ level examination. 8 Textile Engineering College Admission Process :
Four year BSc in Textile Engineering course admission process of eight government textile engineering colleges in Bangladesh involves written test followed by viva exam. For that, aspirants first need to apply through the following link :

As mentioned earlier, online application process began from 10 am May 2. The last date and time to apply is 5 pm July 4, 2023, according to the revised circular.

Application Fee :
The fee for application to take part in admission test is Tk.1000 which applicants need to pay by SMS through any Teletalk prepaid mobile number.
Here remember that the fee must be paid within 72 hours of application submission. Otherwise the authority will not accept any applications meaning application will go invalid later than that.
Admission Test Date :
Four year BSc in Textile Engineering course admission test of eight government Textile Engineering colleges is scheduled to take place from 10 to 11:20 a.m. on July 22, 2023.
Here note that examinees must be present at their respective exam venue and exam hall at least 45 minutes and 30 minutes respectively prior to the exam timing.
Admission Test Center :
As per the circular, the very eight government textile engineering college will be the centers for written test. So examinees’ exam venue depends on their choice of the institution. For details, one needs to see the circular available at the end of this article.
Admit Card Download :
Using User ID and Password, candidates can download their admit cards from 10 am July 10 to 5 pm July 17 instead of June 21 to 5 pm June 27, the original period.
N.B : examinees must show their color-print admit cards during written test and following stages of admission. Therefore they have to preserve it.
Things Banned During Admission Test :
During written test, examinees cannot carry the following things to exam venues—- any types of calculator, electronic devices, all types of watch or time keeper, any device-equipped pens, mobile phones or any other devices. Otherwise, they might risk entry ban into venues.
Merit List Publication :
The list of the selected candidates for admission is scheduled to be out on July 10. The result will be made available at the websites of Department of Textiles and the eight textile engineering colleges. Examinees can find results on notice boards of the colleges.
Govt. Textile Engineering College Admission Test Method :
Admission test will have 200 marks MCQ type questions involving Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English. Of the total marks, 60 marks each will be for Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and 20 for English.
There will be 100 questions in total with each carrying 2 marks. It should be noted that for each negative answer, there will be a deduction of 0.50 marks. And the duration of the test is 1 hour 20 minutes in total.

Eight Government Textile Engineering College Total Seats :
There are 960 seats in total involving the eight government textile engineering college in Bangladesh. Each college has 120 seats.
Of the seats available at each government textile engineering college, 30 each for Departments of Yarn Engineering, Fabric Engineering, Wet Processing Engineering and Apparel Engineering.
