CU MPhil PhD Admission Circular 2023 : Application Deadline July 20

CU (University of Chittagong) MPhil PhD Program admission circular for academic year 2022-2023 is now open. Application in prescribed form should reach the authority by July 20, 2023.

As per the circular, the authority will enroll students for MPhil and PhD programs in all departments/institutes under all existing faculties and Jamal Nazrul Islam Research Centre for Mathematical & Physical Sciences (RCMPS).

CU MPhil Admission Requirements :

Aspirants need to meet the following conditions, among others, to be eligible for admission into MPhil Program :

1. Three or four (3/4) year-long honors and one (1) year-long master’s with minimum second class with 50 percent marks in both the exams. Or three or four (3/4) year-long honors and one (1) year-long master’s with minimum CGPA/GPA of 3.25 for students from Faculty of Arts & Humanities and Faculty of Education; GPA 3.35 for those from Faculty of Social Science & Law; GPA 3.40 for those from Faculties of Science, Business, Biological Science, Engineering and Marine Science & Fisheries. Besides, SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams pass in second class with 50 percent marks or GPA minimum 3.50 out of scale 5.0.

2. Those with MBBS/BDS/DVM degrees from government medical colleges are also eligible for application.
3. BSc engineering & MSc engineering or BSc (Agriculture) & MSc (agriculture) degree in second class with 55 percent marks or GPA 3.50 in either exam and 3.40 in other exam out of scale 4.0.

In addition, SSC and HSC or equivalent exam pass each with second class or GPA 3.50 out of scale 5.0.

CU PhD Admission Requirements :

1. MPhil degree holders.
2. In case of applicants with foreign second master’s degree, honors and master’s degree pass, each in second class with minimum 50 percent marks. Or minimum CGPA/GPA of 3.25 for students from Faculty of Arts & Humanities and Faculty of Education; GPA 3.35 for those from Faculty of Social Science & Law; GPA 3.40 for those from Faculties of Science, Business, Biological Science, Engineering and Marine Science & Fisheries. Besides, SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams pass in second class with minimum 55 percent marks or GPA minimum 3.50 out of scale 5.0.
3. Teachers from the University of Chittagong with one year of teaching experience and at least one (1) publication in peer-reviewed journal are also eligible for admission into the program.
4. Teachers from any public university in Bangladesh with at least three (3) years of teaching experiences are also eligible for admission if they meet these conditions : Honors & Master’s degree with 50 percent marks or CGPA or GPA 3.50 out of scale 4.0; SSC & HSC or equivalent exam pass with second class or GPA 3.50 out of scale 5.0 and at least two (2) publications in any acclaimed journal.

Applicants need to submit application form with bank draft/pay order of Tk.700 (with research grant) and Tk.500 (without research grant) in favor of Registrar, University of Chittagong, to the following address :
