Death Toll in Bangladesh Reaches 60, Infections 1,572

The death toll from the deadly novel coronavirus in Bangladesh reaches at least 60 as 10 more fatalities are confirmed in the last 24 hours as of Thursday. Besides, the total number of infections in the country has risen by 341 to 1,572 in total. Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed this at a regular online press briefing April 16 in the capital Dhaka.

First corona case in the country was confirmed on March 8. Since the number of cases of the virus continues to rise day by day.

At the press briefing DGHS says, Of the 10 deaths in the last 24 hours, 6 are in capital city Dhaka. Over the last one day, at least 2019 samples are examined across the country of which 341 are tested positive, taking the total number of infections to 1,572.

Based on the day by day cases confirmed by the DGHS, it seems that the more tests are done, the more cases are appeared in the country alike the rest of the world.

Globally the covid-19 has infected more than 2.06 million people and killed at least 1,37,000. In terms of deaths and cases, the USA has now topped all other countries hit by the virus as at least 638,000 cases, including more than 30,000 deaths reported in the country to date, as per Johns Hopkins University.
