Finland again is the happiest country in the world, according to World Happiness Report 2023. This is the sixth time in a row that the Nordic country has taken the top spot in happiness rankings.

Notably, top three countries in the UN happiness report are from the Nordic Region–-Finland (1), Denmark (2) and Iceland (3).  Not only that, five countries from the region are in the top 10 of the rankings— Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland.

The Nordic Region consists of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, as well as the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland.

World Happiness Report rankings are based largely on life evaluations from the Gallup World Poll.

The report, which is a publication of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, draws on global survey data from people in more than 150 countries. Countries are ranked on happiness based on their average life evaluations over the three preceding years, in this case 2020 to 2022.

The report was released on March 20 which is the International Day of Happiness, a day designated by the United Nations. This year the world body is marking 10th anniversary of the day.

World’s 7 Least Happy Countries 2023 :

According to the World Happiness Report 2023, the seven (7) least happy countries (in descending order) are Afghanistan (137), Lebanon (136), Sierra Leone (135), Zimbabwe (134), Democratic Republic of the Congo (133), Botswana (132) and Malawi (131).

What is the rank of India in World Happiness Index 2023?

India has secured 126th position in the World Happiness Report 2023. Finland again has taken the top in the rankings for sixth time in a row, according to the World Happiness Report published on March 20.

China’s Position in World Happiness Report 2023 :

China, world’s second biggest economy, is ranked 64th in the happiness report with a score of 5.8 out of 10 in total.

Saddest or Least Happy Country 2023 :

As per the report, Afghanistan is said to be the saddest country or the least happy in the world.

In the rankings, Afghanistan is ranked at No. 137 among 137 countries surveyed for the report. The second least happiest country is Lebanon which at No. 136. Average life evaluations in these countries are more than five points lower (on a scale from 0 to 10) than in the 10 happiest countries.

Bangladesh Position in World Happiness Report 2023 :

Bangladesh has ranked 118th out of 137 countries in World Happiness Report 2023, substantially dropping by 24 notches from last year’s position. In 2022, the country was at 94th place out of 146 countries. A year earlier, Bangladesh was ranked 101st.
