The United States has recorded its highest single day count in coronavirus cases so far since the outbreak began in the country in February this year. As per Johns Hopkins University, the country reported 60,021 new cases and 1,195 deaths on July 7. And as of 12 p.m on July 8, the country has recorded at least 13,513 new cases and about 114 deaths.
That brings the cases in total more than 3 million in the USA alone. In total, there are now at least 3,009,611 reported cases and at least 131,594 victims in the country. The totals include cases from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and other U.S. territories, as well as repatriated cases.
The US has reached that grim milestone of more than 3 million cases in just 170 days after the first case was reported on January 21 in the country according to the university. Following is a brief timeline of how fast the virus spread in the US:
- Jan. 21: The US reports its first reported case.
- 99 days later: At least 1 million Americans have been infected
- 43 days later: The US reports more than 2 million cases
- 28 days later: The US reached 3 million cases
