Schools & Colleges in Bangladesh SHUT Over Coronavirus

Bangladesh government has made a decision to shut all sort of educational institutions in the country till March 31 in order to prevent the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus, officially known as ‘Covid-19’.

The decision, effective from March 17, has been taken at the weekly Cabinet meeting, held March 16, chaired by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In the country, there have been now 8 confirmed cases, of whom three have been discharged from hospitals after treatment. Besides, there are a number of people under quarantine in several places across the country.

The government March 16 confirmed three more coronavirus cases in the country, bringing the national total to at least 8.

All the cases are found among returnees from mainly Italy, where the virus has now killed at least 18 hundreds and infected about 24 thousand to date.

According to the World Health Organization, globally the new coronavirus has infected more than 1,53,000 people and killed at least 6 thousand. But as per an estimate from Johns Hopkins University in the USA,  the death toll from the virus is now at least 6,400 and the number of infections more than 1,64,000 across the world.
