Beijing, the capital city of China, is going to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2022. Like any other world sport events, these two tournaments will also require a huge number of volunteers. Therefore the Olympic Organizing Committee is asking for applications from eligible and talented youths from around the world to work as volunteers at the world’s biggest sporting extravaganza. People particularly youths, aged min 18 years on January 1, 2022, are eligible to apply, as per the announcement. To note, Bangladeshi youths also fall under the recruitment category.
According to the announcement, 27,000 Game volunteers will be recruited for the Beijing Olympic Winter Games and 12,000 for the Paralympic Games. Games volunteers are divided into two broad categories: general and specialist volunteers. Specialist volunteers are the ones who have professional knowledge, skills and expertise in areas like language, medical or driving services. Non-specialist volunteers are general volunteers.
Volunteers will provide services at various programmes or events throughout the Games. The work areas for volunteering include international relations, competition operations, press operations and broadcasting, venue operations, marketing, human resources, technology, cultural programmes, logistics, security, and transport etc.
Benefits of Volunteering: Authorities will provide the selected persons meant volunteers the following benefits : accreditation, uniform, food & beverages, appropriate insurance and relevant medical services. They will also provide appropriate incentives to the Games volunteers including service certificates and relevant souvenirs.

Eligibilities to apply : Individuals who hold the following criteria are requested to apply :
1. Must abide by Chinese laws and regulations, be willing to serve the Games on a voluntary basis, and accept the guidance and supervision of Beijing 2022.
2. Must be minimum 18 years old on 1 January 2022 (born on or before 1 January 2004), and be in good health.
3. Must have the knowledge and skills required for their positions.
4. Must be able to effectively communicate in Chinese and/or English
5. Must be able to participate in all required training and provide volunteering services for the Games.
Application Process & Deadline : The application has already started dating back on this December 5. The closing time for application is at 24:00 on September 30, 2021, Beijing Time. All applications including prior registration must be made on the Beijing 2022 Volunteer Application Portal. To note that there is no registration fee for volunteer applications.
