JU (Jahangirnagar University) admission circular for academic year 2022-2023 is now open with deadline to apply 11:59 pm May 31, 2023. Admission test is taking place from June 18 to 25, 2023.This year, the test will be held under six (6) units—A, B, C, C1, D & E.

Admission test results of some departments or institutes under different units are coming out gradually with IBA-JU written test results already out. 

However, practical exam of Department of Fine Arts (C-1 Unit) will be on June 25 to 26. 

The admission test schedule for the year 2022-2023 is now out with the test as mentioned earlier beginning June 18 from 9 to 10 am.

Application Fee :

Applicants need to make the payment as application fees according to the following structure : 

1. Tk. 900 (with service charge) for A, B & C Unit each.
2. Tk. 600 (with service charge) for C1, D & E Unit each. 

Applicants can deposit the fee by either of the following means—Rocket Account (Dutch Bangla Mobile Banking) and Bkash.

JU Admission Exam Date 2023 :

As per the latest decision taken by the Central Admission Committee, first year honors admission test is scheduled to begin June 18 instead of June 16 mentioned in the circular.

The authority will intimate the details to this end through daily newspapers. Information regarding admission test will also be available in this website (juniv-admission.org). 

JU Application Period :

Online application has begun from 10 am May 9. And the last date and time to apply is 11:59 pm May 31.

JU Honors Application Requirements :

Aspiring students need to meet the following requirements to take part in admission test :

1. Having Passed SSC or its equivalent exam in 2019 and following years such as 2020.
2. HSC or equivalent exam passing year 2021 or 2022. That means second-timers will be allowed to apply.
3. SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams’ GPA will be counted including that of 4th subject.
4. For English Medium students, minimum 5 subject pass in GCE ‘O’ level exam in 2017 & subsequent years and minimum 2 subjects pass in GCE ‘A’ level exam in 2021 or 2022. Besides, at least ‘B’ grade in 4 subjects and min ‘C’ grade in 3 subjects out of 7 subjects involving ‘O’ and ‘A’ level exams together.
5. Students with necessary minimum requirements will be able to apply for any units.

Departments/Institutes Under Six Units : 

As per the circular, Jahangirnagar University first year honors admission test for year 2022-23 will take place under six (6) units. The six units are : 

A-Unit (Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Science and Institute of Information Technology) : Departments of Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science & Engineering, Environmental Science, Geological Sciences and Information & Communication Technology. 

B-Unit (Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law) : Departments of Economics, Geography & Environment, Government & Politics, Anthropology, Urban & Regional Planning, Public Administration and Law & Justice. 

C-Unit (Faculty of Arts & Humanities and Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature & Culture) :  Departments of Bangla, English, History, Philosophy, Archaeology, International Relations, Journalism & Media Studies and Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature & Culture. 

C1-Unit (Faculty of Arts & Humanities) : Departments of Fine Art and Drama & Dramatics. 

D-Unit (Faculty of Biological Sciences) :  Departments of Botany, Zoology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry & Molecular Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering and Public Health & Informatics.

GPA Requirements For Units and Departments :

As per the admission Circular 2023, admission test this year will take place under six (6) units which are ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘C1’, ‘D’ and ‘E’.

Admission aspirants need to fulfill the following requirements to be eligible for application for different departments under Faculties and Institutes :

For A-Unit (Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Science and Institute of Information Technology) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For B-Unit (Faculties of Social Sciences and Law) : Minimum GPA 3.5 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations for Faculty of Social Sciences and GPA 4.0 for Faculty of Law.

For C-Unit (Faculty of Arts & Humanities and Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature & Culture) : Minimum GPA 3.5 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For D-Unit (Faculty of Biological Sciences) : Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations.

For E-Unit (Faculty of Business Studies and Institute of Business Admission, IBA-JU) : Minimum GPA 3.75 in both SSC and HSC or their equivalent examinations for Humanities/Business Studies/equivalent groups while for Science students, the GPA requirement is min 4.0 in both the exams. For Institute of Business Admission, GPA must be minimum 4.00).

JU Admission Test Method :

For all units, Admission test will have 80 marks MCQ Type questions. The duration of each test is 55 minutes. But there will be an additional 5 minutes for OMR Form fill-up. To note, there will be a negative marking of 0.20 marks for every wrong answer. And written test (MCQ) pass mark is minimum 33% which is applicable to all units.

JU Admission Test Results :

Concerned Unit Office will publish the unit’s result within 3 days of completion of the exam. And the results will be available at the link (juniv-admission.org) and on the notice board of the unit office.
