Corona in Bangladesh : Death Toll Reaches 1582, Infections Cross 122k

The coronavirus situation in Bangladesh is getting worse day by day as the country has confirmed 37 more deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours till June 24 afternoon, taking the total toll to 1,582. Besides, the concerned authority has recorded further 3,462 cases over the period. With this, the number of cases in the country has risen to 122,660.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this at the regular online health bulletin on the coronavirus situation in the country on the day.  In Bangladesh, the first corona infection was confirmed on March 8 and the first death 18th of the month.

During the briefing, DGHS said that 16,433 samples were examined at about 60 labs across the country over the period to determine new case. Of them, 3,462 came positive for the virus, raising the samples examined in total to 660,444 since the outbreak began in the country.

The body also said at the bulletin that 2,031 more patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the recovered to 49,666 so far now.

Internationally the novel coronavirus has infected more than 9.2 million people including 477k deaths. Of all the countries affected by the virus, the USA is the worst hit with at 2,346,937 cases, including at least 121,224 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University.
