The number of cases and deaths from the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh continue rising as the country has registered further 41 deaths and 3,775 infections in the last 24 hours till July 1. With that, the country now has 1,888 fatalities and 149,298 cases in total respectively since the outbreak began in the country.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the country said at the daily online health bulletin on the corona situation in the country on the day. Bangladesh recorded its first corona infection on March 8 and the first death on 18th of the month.
The number of deaths of the virus within the last 24 hours is a bit down from the previous corresponding period when the number was 64, the highest single day jump in deaths so far now since the outbreak started.
DGHS said at the briefing that 17,875 samples were examined at about 69 labs across the country over the period to ascertain new case. Of them, 3,775 samples have turned to be positive for the virus, up from the earlier period at 3,682.
The rate of infections based on the examination of samples over the period is 21.12%. Overall the rate is 19.03% in terms of sample being under labs. The country has so far examined 784,335 samples since the outbreak began in the country.

During the bulletin, the health body also said that 2,484 more patients had recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the recovered to 62,108 so far now. The rate of the recovery is 41.61%.
In Bangladesh, male is accounting for majority of the deaths as of the new fatalities over the last 24 hours, 38 are of that sex. And regarding concentration of cases and deaths, central Dhaka division makes up the most as of the new fatalities over the 24 hours, 13 are registered in Dhaka division, down from that of the previous period at 64. Of the rest, 17 are in Chattagram, a northeastern region, 5 in Khulna division and 3 in Barishal division.
Internationally the novel coronavirus has infected more than 10.4 million people including at least 511k deaths. Of all the countries affected by the virus, the USA is the worst hit with at least 2,635,538 infections including at least 127,425 related fatalities, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
