The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh has crossed the mark of 1k as the country has recorded further 37 fatalities within the last 24 hours ending June 10 afternoon. That raises the total toll in the country to 1,012. Besides, the country has recorded the highest single day infections of 3,190 over the period, taking the total to 74,865. Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the country said at the regular online bulletin on the coronavirus situation in the country on the day.
The country confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death 18th of the month. Since then the both fatalities and cases have been climbing non-stop in the country.
DGHS said at the bulletin 15,965 samples were examined at about 50 labs across the country over the period. Of those, 3,190 samples came positive for the virus, up from the earlier period at 3,171.

The bulletin also said that 563 more patients have recovered from the disease over the period, taking the number of the recovered in total to 15,900.
As part of attempts to curb the spread of the virus, the country had been under lockdown from March 26 to May 31st. The government extended the lockdowns 7th time in phases. Now the government has introduced Red, yellow and green zone-based lockdowns given the number of infections in any particular area.
Internationally the covid-19 coronavirus has infected more than 7.2 million people including over 411,000 deaths. Of all the affected countries or territories, the USA is the worst hit with at least 1,985,670 cases and at least 112,289 deaths.
