Corona Outbreak : Cases In Bangladesh Crosses 100k, Death Toll Reaches 1,343

The number of coronavirus cases in Bangladesh has crossed the grim mark of 100k as the country has recorded another 3,803 infections within the last 24 hours ending June 18. That raises the total cases in the country to 102,292. Besides, the country has seen another 38 deaths over the period, taking the toll to 1,343 since the outbreak began in the country.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Bangladesh held the bulletin online on the coronavirus situation in the country on the day. The country confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death 18th of the month.

DGHS said at the bulletin that 16,259 samples were examined at about 60 labs across the country during the period. Of those, 3,803 samples came positive for the virus, bringing the total samples examined in the country so far to 5,67,503. Further 1,975 patients have recovered over the period, taking the total recovered to 40,164.

Of the new deaths, 14 are recorded in Dhaka Division, 18 in Chattagram, the eastern region and the rest in other regions including 2 in Khulna division, the western region in the country.

Internationally the covid-19 coronavirus has infected more than 8.3 million people including at least 449,000 deaths. Of all the affected countries or territories, the USA is the worst hit with more than 2.21 million cases and at least 119K deaths. The country has reported more than 25,500 new Covid-19 cases and 755 deaths on June 17 alone
