All public universities in the country is likely to reopen from May 24 and student dormitories on 17 the same, announces Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni via a virtual press conference on February 22.
The authorities seem to have made the announcement amidst the ongoing protests at different universities for reopening of campuses and residential halls.
All educational institutions in the country have remained closed since March 17, 2020. The government took the decision as a measure to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
But now the pandemic situation in the country is very much under control compared to the rest of the world as the corona positivity rate in the country now stands at just around 3. Yet the educational institutions including universities continue to be shut.
The Minister also said that all teachers, students and staffers of all public universities would be vaccinated ahead of the planned reopening of university campuses.
